IT helps change an organization's culture

Business Problem

Our client, an international institute at a major university, brought us this problem: they wanted to change their organizational culture to make it more cohesive and collaborative. A major element in their project was the design of a new facility that would consolidate operations. Their senior management asked us to help them use information technology to build a stronger community.

Solution

Here's what we did to help them achieve their goal:

  1. We evaluated technologies that would create a sense of community and participation in the institute.
  2. We interviewed academic and administrative staff and developed an IT strategy.
  3. We made recommendations to the building architects and reviewed the design to make sure IT was integrated and "user-friendly."
  4. We developed IT services for the new building and provided support and training for the staff once the building was completed.
  5. We even developed a "building users' manual" to help foster the new culture and to make sure staff used the IT investments well.
